Bondage of Love – Ghalib

About whose mischievousness of writing is the image a plaintiff
Of paper is the robe of every countenance of the picture

Ask not about digging through life’s forbearance of loneliness
To make daybreak from night is the bringing of the canal of milk

The emotion of ardor, out of control, is worth seeing!
The edge of the sword is outside of the sword’s breast

No matter to what extent intelligence spreads the net of hearing
Not catchable (Anqa) is the intent in my style of speech

Ghalib, even in bondage I am restless to such extent
A singed hair is a link of my chain.
